What is Intellectual Property (IP)? What are the most important aspects relevant to a research environment? How do you create an IP, own it and commercialise it? How should IP be handled in the context of collaboration and research agreements?

The 3rd edition of the H2020 ACCELERATE project’s webinars will give an introductory grounding to the above topics, which would help newcomers to this area avoid common pitfalls. The webinar is suitable for anyone involved in research and technology transfer activities.

The speakers of this edition are Dr. Jagvir Singh Purewal and Dr. Mark Connell, Senior Associates at Forresters IP.

Dr. Purewal is a practicing IP attorney (UK and European Patent Attorney), with a PhD in Theoretical Physics. He advises a number of research organisations with regards to IP, patents and commercialisation activities and issues. Dr. Purewal has also advisory strategy roles at the Quantum Technology Sensors Hub (UK), which is a collaboration between multiple universities and + 70 industry partners.

Dr. Connell is a UK and European Patent Attorney, with a PhD in Physical Chemistry. He is experienced in advising joint ventures in relation to IP protection and exploitation. Dr. Connell also provides IP due diligence opinions for clients seeking to acquire third party IP, as well as freedom-to-operate opinions for clients seeking to assess the impact of third party IP rights on their proposed commercial activities.
