Project Summary

The development of all energy-related systems (e.g., batteries, photovoltaics, porous soft-matter) can only be performed if the changes in properties under operational conditions arising from the internal structure (dynamics) are precisely understood.

The aim of this proposal is to fund one post-Doc position for the duration of 24 months with the objective to tailor a multi-technique approach applicable to an up to now rather poorly explored research field regarding the system’s dynamics.

The intention is to combine and extend the research capabilities of x-ray scattering and infrared spectroscopy that are available within the CERIC-ERIC consortium. Within the scope of energy-related systems, the focus will be directed towards solid-state systems and their performance on timescales ranging from picoseconds to seconds. Thus, the research activities will be dedicated to optical-pump and x-ray/infrared probe experiments which will be performed at Elettra and the partner institution of the Technical University of Graz. At the respective facilities, in-operando and pump-probe experiments are feasible or have already been successfully demonstrated.

Total budget for the implementation of the action: EUR 278.932
