Project Summary
The Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI) has been a full member of the CERIC-ERIC consortium since 2017, within which it offers CERIC users the analysis and modification of materials with ion beams (broad and focused ion beams). The existing tandem accelerators (1 MV Tandetron and 6 MV Tandem Van de Graaff) are used to accelerate ions of various masses to energies ranging from 200 keV to tens of MeV.
To extend the ion energy range to less than 200 keV, which is not available within the CERIC-ERIC Consortium, an upgrade of the recently installed 200 keV RBI’s implanter/accelerator is planned. This will require the installation of a new ion source, an analysis chamber/end station, and a stable power supply for the analyzing magnet, which will be funded by this project. It is planned that the upgrade of the 200 keV implanter will be completed in two years.
Total budget for the implementation of the action: EUR 260.00
