One of the most critical challenges of our time is to mitigate the global climate change caused by anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases, mainly generated by fossil fuels. A crucial part of the solution is to substitute energy generation based on fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, which, in several cases, are of intermittent nature. Therefore, one of the main issues connected to this aspect is to provide efficient energy storage. Fuel cells represent one of the most promising solutions, and advancing research and methodologies about fuel cells and electrolysers is paramount.

CONTACT-Science@CERIC 2022 is a two-day workshop dedicated to fuel cells and electrolysers. It will be a unique opportunity to bring together directors and instrument scientists from CERIC facilities to boost stakeholder interaction on ongoing activities, joint research topics, and future development plans. The workshop will be on the 8th and 9th of November at CastelBrando in Cison di Valmarino, Treviso (Italy).

The first day of the workshop focuses on energy research, fuel cells, and electrolysers, with specialised training sessions designed for the instrument scientists of CERIC facilities. The second day will be dedicated to presentations by distinguished researchers of the CERIC facilities involved in hydrogen technologies research activities and by leading experts from external institutions.

This event is co-financed by the CEI-Central European Initiative through its fund dedicated to cooperation activities aimed at fostering mobility and people-to-people contacts in the CEI region, and in particular this event which address CEI Plan of Action’s goal “Stimulating Green Growth”. Peter Canciani, project manager at CEI, will participate in the welcoming event with Jana Kolar, executive director of CERIC-ERIC, and Vladimir Matolin, director of the Czech CERIC Partner Facility and Chair of the Program Committee of CONTACT-Science@CERIC 2022.
